Summary
In the field of study and assessment of diet, in addition to standard methods, solutions based on modern technologies, especially mobile technologies, are increasingly being used. In recent years, many experiments have been conducted wherein prototype solutions have been tested to increase the accuracy of data obtained during dietary research, as well as the possibility of subsequent commercial applications in mobile devices - primarily in smartphones and tablets. Research results indicate, that taking skilful advantage of innovative technologies, particularly in combination with standard methods, may increase the accuracy of nutrition method assessment, and decrease the costs of gathering and processing nutritional data - benefiting healthcare workers and dietitians, and, most importantly, people in need of effective nutritional intervention.
