Karola Marcinkowskiego w Poznaniu Summary Professor Rudolf Weigl, the originator of the epidemic typhus vaccine, was chief of the Department of General Biology of the Medical Faculty at Poznan University between 1948-1951. Although the Institute for professor Rudolf Weigl had not been founded in Poznan, his activity at Poznan University initiated the creation of an important centre of medical parasitology.
