Summary
Psoriasis is not only the skin problem, but it is a systemic disease. The diet has a decisive role in the course of psoriasis, although currently there are no clearly defined standards for nutritional recommendations in this disease. Considered is the introduction of the low-energy diet, the Mediterranean diet and the diet rich in polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, as well as the vegetarian and the gluten-free diet. Long-term clinical observations confirm the validity of modifications in eating habits in patients with psoriasis. In effect of these changes there is improvement in lab results, in biochemical parameters of inflammatory processes, lipid profile and insulin sensitivity.
